It was a great occasion for us to visit Brother Graham Staines in Orissa before he and his two lovely children were murdered. We had been there as part of our ministry visiting the work done by this wonderful family. We all are well aware of the incident and the culprits behind it. It's a great deal of pain which Gladys Staines and her daughter Esther went through at this time; the Lord of all comfort and the tribal people where the only one to comfort them. After a long wait the accused were arrested and brought to trial and found guilty. As soon as their sentence was announced by the Judge, Gladys Staines said, "I have forgiven them." It takes a great break of heart and pain to say these words when one has lost everything, specially her beloved husband and her lovely sweet children.
When Joseph's brothers stood before him in Egypt asking for food, Joseph faced a great test, Years before these men had planned to kill him, but they changed their minds and sold him into slavery. Now Joseph was in a position of power and could take revenge, but because he trusted God's sovereignty he offered them forgiveness. So did Gladys Staines.
Dear friends, can we too put our shoes in these lovely little people? Have we been wronged? Then just as we trusted Christ to forgive us, lets ask Him for grace to forgive others.
"Lord, help me to be kind and forgiving,
So oft your forgiveness I've known,
For sins I have committed;
Lord, grant me a love like your own."
