For Our Good
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all -

Sometimes the Lord takes things away from us that we can hardly imagine getting along without. But as time passes, we come to realize that we can live without them and that those single losses were really gains. We come to the place when we can actually thank God for our disappointments because we recognize that in His marvelous providence He changes our 'light' afflictions into eternal glory.
Taking a page from nature and using his imagination C.H.Spurgeon illustrated this truth; he wrote, imagine a small and stunted plant growing under a shade of a broad spreading oak. It greatly enjoys the quiet rest that its noble friend affords. A woodsman comes along with a sharp axe and cuts down the oak. The plant weeps and cries out, "My shelter is gone. Every rough wind will blow upon me!" "No", says the angel of the flower, "Now the sun will shine on you, now the showers will fall on you, and your flower which never could have fully developed itself to perfection, will now laugh in the sunshine."
Dear friends, as God's children, we can be confident that whatever He does to us, whatever He takes away from us is for our benefit, our good. If we accept His truth, we can begin to rejoice in the reality of God's powerful, wise and loving providence. No matter what we are facing today, whether it is a blessing or a trial, we have the assurance that in all things, God is at work to fulfill His marvelous purpose in our lives.
Praise God! everything He does is for our good.
"No gain? Ah, I'd forgotten
My father's faithful word
That all things work for blessing,
To them that love the Lord"
